# Virtual Information Session on High School Advanced Research Program Set for January 6, 2027

Parents and guardians of students in grades 8-11 are invited to attend a virtual information session on Wednesday, January 6, 2027, from 7-7:45 p.m. on the HCPSS Advanced Research Program, according to the Howard County Public School System.

The session will cover the high school Advanced Independent Research, ADV Intern/Mentor course, and AP Seminar and AP Research courses, providing details on how these courses develop advanced skills in research and collaboration.

#### High School Advanced Research Program Information Night, Jan. 6. 2027

November 2nd, 2026

Parents/guardians of, and students in grades 8-11 are invited to attend a virtual information session on Wednesday, January 6, 2027 from 7-7:45 p.m. on the [HCPSS Advanced Research Program](https://www.hcpss.org/academics/gifted-and-talented/hs/#research), which includes the high school Advanced (ADV) Independent Research, ADV Intern/Mentor course, and the Advanced Placement (AP) Seminar and AP Research courses.

Participants will learn how these courses provide students with advanced skills in research, presenting, networking, writing, problem solving and collaborating, all while studying something of interest to the student.

Families are encouraged to attend the [Advanced Research presentations](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cD8aOUzlS5wuZN4Ar35xtilY5eY4am25lCQlcCgK4jY/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.23wk8edm7zo6) held at their student’s school. For the HCPSS county presentation, please [register in advance](https://forms.gle/8H9xbuumDX3XHBk66) for the information session. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Please indicate on the registration if you are requesting an interpreter **no later than November 24**. Registration for the county virtual event will close on December 16, 2026.
